The Human Face and Acne
Some people claim that outer appearances can be deceiving- we all the remember the over-used quote "you can't judge a book by its cover". Others think that it is morally and ethically wrong to judge a person by their appearance. In an ideal world, that is how things would be, but it certainly does not mean that is how things actually are.
It is not very prudent to judge by looks, but the fact is that it's an everyday act. Whether you admit it or not, if you have a concept of ugly and pretty in your mind, then you are capable of discrimination.
In the end, appearances do matter. All this happens because we notice things, we see things that call our attention and acne is something that calls immediate attention. A person with acne becomes the center of attention for all the wrong reasons.
Acne is not your run of the mill skin condition, its implications, both social and physical, call attention for the worse reasons, which has known to cause depression. Acne is not something you would want to get noticed for, most people would prefer to be recognized for their positive traits.
Let us look at things through this posture: acne pockets are wounds, and wounds hurt, heal and scar. Walking down an everyday North American suburb with wounds on your face, you are bound to call attention.
Acne for your everyday person is annoying. Acne was around 500 years ago also, but didn't mean the same thing as it does today. Our society has come to value things very differently. When you thing of a good looking happy man...do you picture him with acne?
Acne comes from a plug, created by dead cells and too much sebum accumulated under that plug. The plugged up sebum is the perfect place for bacteria to grow; this causes a wound called comedo. Two types of comedo exist, the white heads (sebum that remains under the skin) and the black heads (sebum that has surfaced). So now, we come to realize that acne is more complex than what it seems to be.
We have all seen it, and it is very likely that most of us have experienced it, but how many of us would rather just prevent it? Here is where acne skin care products come in.
